Attendees arrived early to discover the much needed rainy days meant presentations were moved from the field to the NSRC auditorium

Before heading to NSRC, soy enhanced muffins and soy milks provided by NSRL were available for sampling

bus transportation to campus


Bill Simmons gave an overview of
current weeds research

 

Pat Tranel spoke about herbicide resistant weeds

Aaron Hager discussed potential interactions of fungicides and glyphosate


Emerson Nafzinger spoke about planting date and soybean variety effects on weed competition

Brian Diers discussed controlling aphipds through genetic resistance

Glen Hartman started presentations on soybean rust research and the Sentinel plot system

Dean Malvick gave his input on soybean rust work

Roger Bowen covered how the on-line VIPS program presents disease screening data

Kevin Steffey did an entomology research update

Alison Colgrove went over soybean cyst nematode research and the HG type test

Randy Nelson talked about the responses of soybean varieties to elevated ozone levels

Pete Goldsmith finished up the presentation morning with a talk on soybean strategy and industrial markets
Finally it was time for lunch and NSRL and ICSF staff had quite a few selections of
soy enhanced items to try
Manicotti, chili, and cord salad contained
textured vegetable protein
Cupcakes and creamy strawberry pie were enhanced with tofu
The cupcakes are a traditional favorite
